Happy Birthday!!

Our sweet Baby K turns TWO today!!!! Where does the time go!! We are so blessed to have been chosen to be her parents! She has come so far! She is now about 24 lbs, and sweet as can be! She has met all her milestones, and doing fantastic in speech--- new words and phrases emerging almost daily now! She lights up our days and is a joy to be around! She is enjoying "sissy" a LOT these days and its adorable to see their relationship really blosoming as she gets older and is more able to play and interact with Makenna, she is sad to see her get on that bus each day and super excited when she gets home! She is spunky, fun, loving, smart, sassy, loud, stubborn, giggly, inquisitive and adorable! We had a blast at her party, thanks to everyone who was able to help us celebrate this sweet girl. We still havent received the adoption decree in the mail, but expect it anytime in the next few months (takes 90 days - 6 months and it was submitted April 20, 2015). We hope everyone is having a great summer so far! We have been enjoying it by camping, fishing, enjoying the pool, parks, chalk, water table, friends and so much more!  Heres a few pictures from party weekend for you to enjoy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St Patty's Day from some of us to you! We hope you have a fun day too! The sneaky Leprechaun came and was very good to the girlies this year....that sneaky Leprechaun even made a mess of the house! We are enjoying the warmer temperatures as Spring has pretty much sprung here in NC...you know the frustrating have no idea to dress the kid for school weather....freezing in AM and HOT in afternoon lol...LOVE It! We went to an indoor water park this weekend locally and had lots of fun, made us excited about the summer! Baby K wasn't too thrilled and sat with Mommy most o the time....but she did okay. Makenna had a blast on the HUGE slide and other water fun! Have a great week!

PROGRESS...FINALLY

Sorry for no posts everyone...been a crazy few months. And not much has happened in adoption world since our TPR back in October, our county has been busy etc and we just have been waiting.

But.......FINALLY PROGRESS......

We had our adoption "Full disclosure/staffing" this afternoon FINALLY..as a reminder she was legally free back in October 2014 and has been in our home/system since July 2013 at 3 weeks old, with an adoption plan as of May 2014. Recap of meeting is is.....Subsidy was APPROVED (monthly payment we receive now as foster parents but sometimes continues until age 18 if approved depending on child, etc), vendor payments approved (out of pocket reinbursement expenses not covered by insurance etc up to $2400 annually), medicaid in NC until 18 approved.......There was question on the subsidy payments all along due to her age, being overall healthy, etc.....both our social worker and our adoption agency worker didn't think she qualified..and somehow today we also learned a certain box had been 'checked' in the system saying she had 'income", they figured out during meeting it was likely since bio mom had been getting SSI and SSD.....also making baby K. likely NOT eligible...BUTTTT...the subsidy supervisor was in our meeting and approved it after some research and fact checking on records we all had and stuff!! First she told us she thought she'd qualify based on her medical alone, meaning her ongoing breathing issues we still deal with on a pretty regular basis and unknown future complications due to such, unknown health histories due to bio mom being adopted as a child, etc., with some more documentation from the pediatrician and/or through our already existing records of ER, past Dr visits, calls and notes from sw, etc. THEN she said.....so we can make her adoption placement date March 15,and be final by mid June (around 90 days process for paperwork etc.)....OR we could do the placement date April 1 (notice only a 2 weeks! difference),....and the adoption would be final in July....making her OVER 2  years old (mid June Birthday)....and with her race she would automatically qualify being in system over age 2!!! So......we signed papers for April 1 adoption placement date, and then will do the official lawyer paperwork petitioning the court for her adoption after that and just wait for the decree to come!! WOOOOO HOOOO...so it went better than expected, and was super painless....little one was with us and everyone had a blast enjoying her with us and loving on her and giggling with her, Jay and I!!!
